The JV volleyball squad started their day off at the East Kentwood tournament with a strong victory over Catholic Cenrtal in two sets, 25-18 and 25-21. From there the tournament held at Davenport went downhill as the Hawkeyes lost to Zeeland East (23-25, 25-23 and 11-15) and East Kentwood (23-25 and 19-25).
The two losses put the Hawkeyes into the Silver bracket where they then lost to Forest Hills Central. That particular match went three games. They won the first match 25-13 and lost the second two 13-25 and 12-15. Sadly, that was the determining factor which sent them home for the day. It’s safe to say that the jitters are now out.
Overall it was a solid start to the season, and freshmen Josie VanderVeen and Alyssa Harbottle who moved up to JV seemed to fit nicely on the team as well.
