The Hawkeyes battled through a long day to finish 2nd at Otsego, Wednesday, August 25.

“Overall, the girls put in a group effort on the day,” Hamilton Coach Abby Ekkens said. “I was proud of the waythey came back storng in bracket play despite a tough loss to a solid Harper Creek team.”

Hamilton opened the day with a quick dusting of Cedar Springs (25-10, 25-11).

They they battled Harper Creek before falling in three sets (22-25, 26-24, 12-15).

A loss to Wayland in the crossover match was a bump on the road to wins over Gobles (25/18, 25-12) and Calvin Christian (14-25, 25-12, 17-15).

The ladies dropped their final match to Mattawan by identical 17-25 set scores.

Senior Ashleigh DeWeerdt led Hamilton with 83 assists, while Alyssa Wolfram had 37 kills and 13 aces.

Jackie Devereaux also had 11 solo blocks for the Hawkeyes.
