Through the sweltering heat, excessive miles, and a lot of hard work, the cross country team has run into the start of their season.
This past Friday the boys and girls teams began their season with the Wayland Invitational. The girls finished out the day by bringing home a .
Molly Oren was the first girl from Hamilton to cross the finish line in third place with Cathy Coryell right behind her taking fourth place.
“Everyone was encouraging each other and we all were surprised by what we could do,” team captain Jacquelynn Overbeek said.
The boys on the other hand worked just as hard as the girls did, but they won a close second place.
Taylor Compton won the boys varsity race.
“It’s really exciting to finally have a great boys team,” team captain Eliot Mulder said. “It’s probably the best boys cross country team Hamilton has ever had.”
