The Hawkeyes JV basketball team conquered Kelloggsville by 20 points. The team played with a lot of heart and pushed hard to win the game. They had a lot of height on their opponents and made a minimum of mistakes. The team had few turnovers and were able to sink majority of their shots.
“Throughout this season we have gotten better composure,” said coach Mat Rehkopf, “and we have much better ball control. The team grew a lot in practice and was able to use what they learned to win this game.”
For most of this season the team has not been great with consistency, but in this game they were able to make a lot of good shots. The team was great at moving down the court quickly and with efficiency. Whenever there was a loose ball the team was quick to to react and usually ended on top.
“We went from uptight to calm,” Matt Kolean said. As they got more relaxed, they got better at shooting and got better ball control.
“We now have good post touches and reversals,” Connor McMahon said. ”We now have a lot more options on where to go with the ball.”
