Wayland | The Hamilton Varsity Basketball team traveled to Wayland Union High School on Monday night, where they suffered a disappointing 61-42 loss to cap off a disappointing 3-18 season.
The Wildcats jumped out to an early 25-10 first quarter lead, and then held the Hawkeyes scoreless in the second quarter taking a 40-10 lead into the locker room.
The Hawkeyes would outscore their competition by 11 points in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to cover the halftime deficit.
Wayland’s Justin Pepper scored 18 for the Wildcats leading all scorers. Zach Kasper added 15 of his own to lift the Wildcats to a District Quarterfinal victory.
The Wildcats will face Otsego on Wednesday in the District Semifinal.
